a mixed-age microschool
for curious kids from K-5
Opening Fall 2026 · Near Strawberry Creek Park, Berkeley
Most schools start with what kids should learn, then try to make it engaging. We start with what a child is curious about, then support them to follow it.
At Creekhouse, there's no predetermined curriculum. Instead, there are rich materials—books, projects, people, the creek—and children's own attention guides where they go.

Two adults for every twelve kids, or better.
Children follow their curiosity, with hand-curated resources to discover.
Healthy conflict, boundaries, and repair are taught—not assumed.
Family is welcome within. Community members share skills. Learning flows both ways.
Eliana is a solo parent of two curious boys and a builder of collaborative spaces. Her path from high school dropout to Thiel Fellow to Oxford researcher has taught her that curiosity, not compliance, drives real learning.
Sophie Liu is an artist, designer, engineer, and musician. She's taught kids art, languages, precalculus, Mandarin, and chemistry, and most recently has worked on educational technology startups.
Akshit Dewan is an engineer who's taught his whole life, from Scratch camps to Berkeley lecture halls. He now works on a peer tutoring platform reaching 100k+ students, because he believes every child's curiosity deserves to stay alive.
Our Head Facilitator will join students in their curiosity, track each child's development, and offer materials, questions, and experiences that meet kids where they are and extend their thinking in new directions.
